To mark the fiftieth anniversary of Sir Winston Churchill's death, Halcyon Days is proud to have created this box in collaboration with the National Portrait Gallery.
The portrait was painted in 1916 by Sir William Newenham Montague Orpen and offers us a glimpse into the depths of Churchill's character. Perhaps due to recent disaster at Gallipoli, Churchill's expression seems deeply troubled, making this portrait quite unique in capturing his profound, personal sense of humanity, as well as the pressures of his role as a statesman.
