Eos was an original work of art by Sir Edwin Henry Landseer (1802 - 1873) commissioned by Queen Victoria as a surprise Christmas gift for her husband Prince Albert. Eos had travelled with Prince Albert from Germany in 1840 when he married Victoria.
His affection for his canine companion prompted the subsequent commission which depicts Eos guarding some of her master's personal possessions.
The contrast of the bold red velvet and greyhound is most majestic and one of Landseer's most favoured works. This stunning English fine bone china pen Pot is a must for dog lovers and art lovers alike.
